C100 project funding update

Updated: Feb 7, 2022

The Balboa Park Committee of 100 is busy on so many fronts in the park that we sometimes lose count of how much we've done in any given year.

The city asked for a breakdown of what C100 contributed to the city in fiscal year 2020-2021. And despite the interruption of a pandemic and inability to meet in person, we looked it up and here are the results:

  • San Diego Automotive Museum, $595,927: That's to paint the building, reconstruct the four monumental murals and ornamentation and light the murals.

  • Municipal Gym: $16,525. That's to paint the building, which as with the Auto Museum, was a partnership -- C100 provides the paint and equipment and city crews do the labor.

So for FY 2021, total contributions are $616,452, an amount made possible by our members and other generous donors.

This is less than a rounding error in a multi-billion-dollar city budget and far less than millions donated to other worthy causes.

But we like to think C100 makes a difference far beyond the dollars and cents.
